1.Used in diesel fuel, especially in secondary processing diesel to improve its cetane number. The addition effect varies with the base oil. Generally, adding 0.1%-0.3% isooctyl nitrate can increase the cetane number by 2-9 units.
2.It can also be used as an organic solvent.
