- Medical grade propylene glycol has a wide range of applications, which can be used in medicine, food, cosmetics and other fields.In the field of medicine, medical-grade propylene glycol is used as A solvent, extraction solvent and preservative for injectable and non-injectable pharmaceutical preparations and is capable of dissolubilizing substances such as corticosteroids, phenols, sulfonamides, barbiturates, vitamins A and D, most alkaloids and many anesthetics.
- It can also be used as a bacteriostatic agent, and its effect of inhibiting mold is similar to glycerin;
- Commonly used as plasticizer for water-borne film coating materials.
- In the food and cosmetics industry, medical-grade propylene glycol can be used as a carrier for emulsifiers and a solvent for fragrances. Because of its non-volatile nature, it is better than ethanol because it helps to maintain a stable aroma. The quality inspection standard of medical grade propylene glycol is: chloride ≤ 0.007%, sulfate ≤ 0.006%, moisture ≤ 0.2%, hot residue ≤ 0.007%, heavy metal ≤5ppm.
